Sponsored by Chess-Ed, Kumbaya workshops feature high-quality instruction, one-on-one coaching and supervised play time. The staff from Chess-Ed will instruct students with opening theory, middle game planning and combinations, and winning endgame technique. Students are grouped according to skill level: beginner/novice players, intermediate/ continuing players and advanced/tournament players.

Research shows that chess helps students develop analytical and critical thinking, set goals, focus for long periods, and learn to make better decisions – life skills that all successful students need.
